Bio

Hi.  My name is Wil Putt and I am excited to meet you!  I’m a songwriter and producer with an array of diverse professional experiences.  I've found that the most important ingredients to success in any endeavor, musical or otherwise, have always been determination, kindness and collaboration.

After placing first in my class at The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH., my formal study of music began with classical training at Indiana University.  Two years later, I left school to start a recording studio.  Soundmill Studios was a regional facility in the upper mid-west with clients from across the great lakes area.  Other notable customers were Joe Bonamassa (live recording) and Duran Duran (tour prep).  Eventually I rebranded the company to Vital Media and broadened the services we provided in order to attract commercial clientele.  The growth of that business attracted the attention of a key national competitor and its private equity partner.  In 2015, I sold Vital Media and decided to pick up where I left off with my education.

I was accepted to the Berklee College of Music as a songwriting major, building on my previous study at IU.  It was humbling to find that I had the opportunity to study under such giants as Pat Pattison, Jimmy Kachulis, Eric Gould and many others.  I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude and am now focusing all of my effort on becoming a professional songwriter.

Over the last three years, I've had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people while studying the craft I love.  I regularly attend the Durango Songwriter’s Expo and will be at my first Hawaii Songwriter's Festival in 2018.  I have developed co-writing relationships with emerging artists in the US, Canada, Greece and Sweden.  I also really enjoy writing to creative briefs and working with independent film makers to help bring their vision to life.

I hope we have the chance to work together soon!
